Hash: (aka Hashish) is a psychoactive drug. Hashish is prepared from the Cannabis plant; Marijuana: is also a psychoactive drug and it refers in general to the preparations that can be made from the Cannabis Plant.

These are what we students /newbies come to know as "drugs". A lot of half-heard, half-manipulated notions exist within most of us geeks as to what they refer to. So hold on boys, I decided to do some googling on the subject and came out with some very interesting facts. Thougt I should share.

1. The use of cannabis has been known since third millenium BC. The Romanian burial site remains were found to contain fossils of Cannabis seed. In India too, the Hindus and Nihang Sikhs were believed to use the Cannabis seeds.


2. For some desi enlightenment, in Sanskrit one of the preparations of the this plant is known as ganjika which is ganja in urban language. So basically, apart from minor differences in how they are made from the Cannabis plant and their mode of use, 'Hash', 'Marijuana' and 'Ganja' are basically identical. Or have the same origins, at worst.

3. The terms cannabis or marijuana generally refer to the dried flowers and subtending leaves and stems of the female cannabis plant. Hashish (also spelled hasheesh, hashisha, or simply hash) is a concentrated resin produced from the flowers of the female cannabis plant.

4. The commonly found marijuana, that 'clever' people get from the Delhi Slums and secret panwalas is sometimes highly adulterated. Chalk and Glass particles are sometimes mixed with marijuana to make it look of higher quality. In Germany lead adulteration caused the death of 29 people due to lead poisoning.



5. Modes of consumption: They can be smoked from hookah or bongs which basically are portable version of hookahs. They can be inhaled through 'joints' (paper wrapped marijuana) or 'blunts' (tobacco leaves wrapped marijuana). Cannabis is also consumed orally (the resin of the Cannabis plants) and by tea.




6. During production, the preparations made from the plant is almost compulsorily heated. This leads to decarboxylation, which basically causes all the poisonous substances to become gas and escape, leaving behind psychoactive drugs. For the same reason, marijuana is also heated before consumption.

7. And this one is really cool. So all you smokers out there, I have a surprise for you. The joint which we think is 'joint' is actually 'spliff'. Joint is when you smoke only hash, but what we do is mix tobacco and hash both and then make a roll and that's called spliff.

8. Here's a small sneak peak at how a joint is prepared.
First a filer is prepared for the roll. Since unlike ordinary cigarettes, joints don't have a conventional filter, we have to add our own. We can take any thick paper and roll it into a nice cylinder. Next we mix cigarette tobacco and hash. Place it on the rolling paper and roll it. Then we burn the extra paper whose otherwise should not be inhaled. And bingo, we are ready to get STONED.

???? SO WHY THE FUCK AM I SAYING ALL THIS ????

Because I had hash today. And for the first time in such high quantity. Almost a whole joint and people really go head over heels in that much drug. And I was supposed to go back home. Fuck. That was an amazing experience guys, especially my trip back home.
